Last year was
once again a very exciting, and highly successful hunt for us in
the Santa Rosa/ Ft. Sumner area of New Mexico. Many of the
ranches we are currently hunting have been game managed for many
years by us, which translates into the excellent hunting results
that you see here.
We took some
outstanding bucks again last year, and are looking forward to an
even better hunt this coming season. This hunt is also
certainly in line with our goal of offering our clients some of
the top values found on this particular class of hunt. Many
outfitters, producing no better results than we do, are charging
over $1,000.00 more for this same hunt. Not everyone will
always shoot a monster buck on this hunt, however, it is nice to
know that the possibility exists of harvesting a real trophy
class deer. If a hunter does not take home a buck, it will not
be because he did not have an opportunity to do so.
We will meet you
the day before your scheduled first day of hunting at our base
of operation, where we will have a final meeting, distribute the
hunting licenses, and answer any questions about the hunt that
is to begin the following morning.
Our hunters will
be scattered on numerous ranches, and often you will hunt more
than one ranch during the time that you are hunting with us.
The terrain we hunt is primarily big canyons, ridges, and mesas
that are covered with cedar, pinon pine, or oak brush. There
are often times when we will need to make a quick decision as to
whether or not the deer should be harvested, as they can
certainly disappear fast in this type of country.
The average shot
is probably 150 yards, however there is always the possibility
of that long shot across a canyon.
In the early
morning and late evening, we normally move about by 4-wheel
drive to try and spot a suitable trophy moving on his own. The
rest of the day, we may walk some canyon rims, trying to jump a
buck out of his bed, or possibly put on some organized drives.
All meals,
lodging, vehicles, and guides are furnished on this hunt. The
ranch house that we stay in is equipped with bunks, mattresses,
sheets, and pillows providing us with a very comfortable
setting. From time to time, we do have some clients stay at a
motel in town, and are shuttled back and forth by one of our
guides. Whether this is your first trip out west for a mule
deer, or your 10th, this is certainly a great hunt to come on.
To insure that
this hunt is a top value for our clients, we have structured our
price in two parts. One is the basic hunt cost, the second is a
kill fee after your animal has been harvested. Although we put
no guarantees on this hunt, this pricing structure guarantees
that this hunt will be a top value for our clients. Many of our
hunters have been on this hunt for many years, and are looking
for the best trophy possible. Pricing the hunt this way allows
that individual to be very selective.
Prior to your
hunt, we will mail you a complete information packet, giving you
a check-list of what to bring, instructions on how to get there,
and details that will help you prepare for your hunt.
Booking this
hunt well in advance is a necessity. The deposit can be made
with a check, Visa or MasterCard, whichever is most convenient
for you. If you are planning on booking this hunt, or have any
further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
